All,

So my meeting with the surgeon up north went GREAT. I really really liked him and his staff! He's program is a little different and he is going to be requiring me to do a few more things I didn't have to do pre and post surgery but nothing I can't handle. Ok..I may be a little grumpy two weeks prior to surgery - will be on a liquid diet. :P Bleah..but worth it!  He'll also want me to stay overnight after surgery. Very nervous about that..never had surgery (except carpal tunnel) and never had to stay overnight at  medical facility as a patient before. In fact hosptials and stuff make me nervous.

Anyway..I'm excited and nervous all the same time. They are submitting my paperwork to insurance. I should hear in a couple of weeks about whether I'm approved. After that I'll have one more trip for pre-operative consult before back up for the sugery! They think we can still do this by the end of March! :) I'll still have to go back up for a check up every month for a year but..again all good!

Woot!

Right now not working on anything to post..but maybe eventually it will be something I can share. The positive uptick to this is that I'm making a point to write..even if it's just an hour a day. I'm making time for it.

Work this week has been a bad week (though I have a great and supportive boss...so thankful). Despite the stress, unending phone calls, emails and troubleshooting I made sure I moved forward on the plans I've been working on to take care of me. I did not cancel or back out of the programs I've signed up for at work to better my health. One of the programs includes a free fitbit! So i'm getting that setup as I'll need to start wearing it everyday to track my movement. :) I have two programs which require a weekly committment. :)

Went to planet fitness tonight even though my SI joint was very unhappy. I pulled up Season 1/episode 1 of Vikings on my phone and put my time in on the treadmill while watching one of my fav shows. Then treated myself to sometime on one of their hydromassage beds. BTW if you are not watching  Vikings..I'm going to say two words to you: Ragnar and Rollo - I do not ship them cuz really the only ship that sails is Ragnar and Athelstan but oh my...do Ragnar and Rollo make my muse sit up and purr!

Tomorrow a friend of mine is going to do the hour and half road trip with me to talk to a surgeon about the procedure I've been working towards getting the last six months. My plan was to get it done at the end of March but since the surgeon I was working with is leaving town I don't know what this new surgeon's schedule is going to be lilke..or even if I want him do it (need to see how I feel about him). I had another surgeon's office call me today (still about an hour and half away) that is another possiblity.  We'll see.

I'm still very positive. Moving forward.

This weekend looks to be busy. Have a full day of gaming on Saturday plus my brother has a birthday and I've been asked to make a chocolate cake for him. I make the cake and frosting from scratch (no box mix) using dark chocolate. Ever since he first tried my receipe several years ago that is all he and my nephew ever want for their birthday from me. They swear it's the best chocolate cake. I'm always glad to be able to do something so personal and unique for them which makes them so happy.

Well that was a much longer checkin/update then I expected.

Hope all are doing well.

Didn't get quite as far as I would have liked on my writing. Needed to spend sometime with sweetie. Still should be where I want by tomorrow at latest.

OC seems to be doing a little better.

Work is picking up again.

All in all things are good.

Got a fair amount of work down yesterday. OC is almost through his antibiotics but is still wheezing. Taking him back to the vet for a recheck on Monday.

All and all...things are good.

One day at a time. A little more writing last night. Not doing marathon sessions. Just about an hour in the evening. Will be doing more over the weekend.

Using the hard won skills of balance. LOL

Anyway...generally good. Have a big meeting I'm co-charing today at work. I'm excited about the work it's going to lead to but the process is a new one too me, it makes me far more visible then I'm used to being and the ultimate decisions we make we'll have impact on the area I work in for a long time.

Happy Friday all!

A surgeron about 1.5 hr away. It's one of the 3 recommended by the surgeon who I have been working with and is leaving. This possible new surgeon's creditials look good. I'm surprised - they have worked me into their schedule next week for a consult! This means if that goes well and I like him and his team then all we need to do is submit my paperwork to insurance and I can get scheduled for surgery. I might even stay on schuedule.

I originally wanted to get my procedure done at the end of March.

Anyway, one of my friends may road trip with me up there. If not, I'll drive up to a town about a 45 minutes to an hour away and stay with friends there so I won't have as far to drive first thing in the morning onThursday.

Meanwhile  I have been moving foward with my plans for tools to help with my post-surgery recovery.

All,

Doing better today. Had a quiet evening last night and by the end found that even though I got thrown a curve ball yesterday, I still had plenty for which to be grateful.

Anyway, Sneer is posted to AO3! Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] hpstrangelove I now understand if the story is up on AO3 readers can make an PDF themselves using the download button!

So now I'm concentrating on Desert Ice.
stillrose: (rainbow)
So for the last 6 months I've been going through hoops to get things in order so I can get this med procedure done that will change my life and improve my health. I thought I was at the point where I was just waiting for insurance approval only to discover the surgeon I've been working with - his practice is closing the beginning of next month!

There will be no one local who can do the procedure. They are sending out letters with the four practices the surgeon is recommending but all of them are going to be an hour or more away. So even if I don't have to redo the 6 months of hoop jumping again (and please please please pray that I don't) I'm still going to have to take time off work, go meet with the new surgeon and then submit the paperwork which could take another two weeks to process.

I've been shooting for a window at the end of March because it will work best for time off for work (2 week recovery).

Not to mention having the surgery done so far away will make it that much harder to get it done.

This just sucks. I'm not frigging giving up though. I've committed myself to doing this and by hook or by crook I'm doing it. I'm upset, anxious but I'm also a little pissed off.

So - what's next? Some of you may remember I started a story called Desert Ice. I pulled it because I want it to be an original work. Last night I re-read it and I'm ready to finish it. Additionally many have requested a pdf of Sneer. i would also like to put Sneer up on to Archive of Our Own. Finally, I have an unfinished Supernatural story to finish.

Over the next couple of weeks I'm going to:

A. Put Sneer up on Archive of Our Own
B. Make a pdf of Sneer - once I do that I have no idea how to make it available to those who would like it.
C. Finish Desert Ice - after reading it again I have fallen in love with it all over again. I can't believe I created that world.

I haven't deicided yet what to do with Desert Ice once I have finished it. My goal is to just finish it first.

Once I have done the above I will working on completeing the SPN story Scars which was a sequel to Burn.

All...it's with mixed emotions I have completed the drafts for 90a and 90b. They each are very long chapters. I'm going to let them set..brew and hope to have them posted by Sunday. Don't want to rush them though. They are the last.

Sneer is coming to an end and while it a great accomplishment it brings to a close one of the most ambitious personal projects I've ever undertaken. This all came to me as a simple "what if" story. When my muse first conceived of the idea I didn't realize what a huge undertaking it would be.

SR
stillrose: (rainbow)
Ok..so it was as I feared...characters just had to have their say. So chap 90 will be in two parts. I'll be writing the other part tomorrow and hope both will be posted by Sunday.

I had some delays in writing today as I had to take my 19 year old (yes 19) cat to the vet. Turns out he has a sinus infection. Needed to be hydrated and get some antibiotics. There were some tense moments as the vet was concerned about kidney disease which is a very real concern for a cat OC's age. However, OC once again surprised us all. His numbers looked good - not even needing a special diet.

This is an alley cat I rescued about this time 19 years ago. He's a tough old guy. He's the opposite of Sebastian. He's beloved by just about all my friends - even the ones who are so allergic to cats they don't pet them (they pet OC).

If he has one big flaw its that he is a confirmed dog bigot. :) Yep, he has no love for dogs. Once backed my friends german shepard/chow/pitbull into a corner. LOL

He wasn't pleased to go to the vet. Lots of foul language was used. I may have to sleep with one eye open tonight. :)

Anyway...looking forward to starting 90b tomorrow. It's a going to be an emotional one. :)

So..we're getting close. I find I'm having a lot of mixed emotions.:)

I've started chapter 90. In the meantime I thought you all might like to see some pictures of the inspiration for Ante- my kitty Sebastian who demanded his way into my life during the course of writing Sneer.

Here's a picture of him as a kitten:

Here's one of him being on the fridge:

And here's my favorite one of him and I. I took this photo quite by accident. I love to do fun makeups for cons and this is one of the one looks I do. It was the first time he'd seen me do it and he was very very confused. :)

As far as his personality Sebastian really is a mixed bag of adorkableness and hellspawn. He is a total "mama's boy". He needs to be in my lap or near me about 80% of the time. Even if I'm writing he meows until I make a space for him to sit next to me on the desk. However, he has also has decided he is a guard cat and he hisses at guests and taken a swat at those who don't take the hint. He doesn't hide from them..no he growls and makes it clears he's watching everything they do earning him the ritual of being secured in the bedroom when I have company. Anyway Sebastian has earned quite the reputation among my friends. Some have offered to do an excorsim. ;)

Thankfully he and my current boyfriend get along very well. In fact, Sebastian seems quite fond of my sweetie and my sweetie thinks Sebastian can do no wrong.

So...the inspiration for Ante.

All right - so that chapter was a little more difficult to write than I thought. Flow issues. Anyway. Draft is done. Going to let it sit and brew a bit before re-reading, revising and posting. Should put it up no later than tomorrow. As I said..it is done.

So, if all goes as I think it will according to what little I have mapped out there will be one more chapter with a possible epilogue. I always give myself just a little leeway in case of character hijacking. I cannot tell you how many times it has happened in this story where I think I know exactly how the chapter is going to go..have it all mapped out in my head and i start to write it and the characters take over and I'm like.."ARRRRG!!"

Also...couldn't resist..watch for the quick reference to the other fandom which I adore down to my toes. Couldn't resist. No plot impact..just an easter egg I couldn't help hide in plain sight. ;)

Will cross post to other communities tomorrow. Additionally will begin on chapter 89.
